SoftmicaCalc - a Primarily Offline Solution

SoftmicaCalc is primarily an offline solution that doesn't require an internet connection to utilize most of its capability. Those functions that do require a connection operate only briefly to retrieve online data.

Those functions are:

• Retrieving the coordinates for a new location in the Distance Calculator. (You can also manually enter lat/long coordinates)
• Retrieving the driving distance between any two saved locations. If the location is in your saved waypoint pair (SWP), the driving distance is saved with that pair so internet access isn't required for driving distance in SWPs.
• Updating currency conversion rates in the Currency Conversion Calculator. Once the rates are updated, all of the rates are saved for offline use so you can use the Currency Conversion Calculator without an internet connection. (You can update rates once every five minutes, and all rates are updated during a single request.)
• Obtaining the closing stock price in the stock prices form for stocks in the "purchased" list. Currently only the previous day-closing stock prices are downloaded due to limitations in the API key used by SoftmicaCalc. In future releases this limitation will be eliminated and you'll be able to get real-time quotes if desired.
